How do I read my water meter?

It is easy to read a water meter – watch our ‘how-to’ video or follow the three easy steps below.

  1. Find your water meter – it is usually located at the front of your property. It is sometimes confused with other meters,   such as your electricity or gas meters.
  2. Record the black numbers on your meter (these represent whole kilolitres). You do not need to record the red numbers as we only charge for whole kilolitres. Don’t forget to record the date of your reading.
  3. If you have found an urgent water meter reading card in the mail, and need to supply South East Water with your meter reading, you can SMS your reading to 0429 883 489, or call 1800 802 677, or send your reply paid meter reading card in the mail. You can also supply your meter reading by going to the Enquiries page in mySouthEastWater, then selecting Submit meter read.
Please note: you should only submit a meter reading if you have received an urgent water meter reading card in the mail, or if your bill indicates that your meter reading has been estimated.
