How is the price of water determined and what is the Water Plan?

The price of water is determined through a process we undertake with the industry’s independent regulator, the Essential Services Commission (ESC).
We begin by preparing  a water plan, which sets the cost of running our business based on the service standards we will deliver  to customers, the expected demand for water and sewerage services, and the investments in infrastructure we need to make to support our growing population.
Following a period of community and stakeholder feedback and ongoing engagement with the ESC, a new set of prices for water and sewerage services is released for each five year period.

Our current prices are approved for the 2018-23 period.

This graph provides a breakdown of what the prices you pay contributes towards.
