What is a stop tap

All properties have a stop tap, which is connected to your water meter.

The stop tap is located on the road side of the meter and is used to control the water supply to a either an individual property or a group of properties (ie. a block of flats). Houses will find it located outside, while for units or apartments it may be near your front door or in a service cupboard.

To turn a stop tap ON:   Turn anti-clockwise fully.

To turn a stop tap OFF:  Turn clockwise fully.

You should turn off your stop tap if you have a burst or when doing work to your water supply.

Check the image below to ensure you are looking at the stop tap and not a garden tap.

If your stop tap does not turn off, you can log a request for South East Water to come out and repair it here.
