Terms and Conditions - Aquarevo

What is Aquarevo?
Aquarevo is a unique collaboration between South East Water and Villawood Properties to create a residential development in Lyndhurst, south east of Melbourne, where homes will feature a range of unprecedented water saving features.
It’s one of the water efficiency programs we’re implementing to support other government initiatives to help secure water supplies for current and future generations of Victorians by reducing demand on drinking water supplies.
That’s why Aquarevo homes will be plumbed with three types of water to showcase the possibilities of harnessing all sources of water available to us: drinking, recycled and rainwater.
Each has been specifically chosen for its intended use (and is supplied according to the relevant regulations and guidelines), to reduce reliance on drinking water for uses that don’t require it. For example, toilets are plumbed with recycled water – why flush drinking water down the toilet?

What is a pressure sewer system?
Each Aquarevo home will be connected to a pressure sewer system powered by OneBox® technology. This allows us to remotely monitor and control the sewer network and regulate sewer flows – reducing spills into the environment and helping us proactively manage the performance of the sewer to provide you with a quality, reliable service.
By connecting each home to a pressure sewer network – rather than the traditional gravity sewer network – we’re able to close the loop, helping provide an integrated water management approach to the community where water and wastewater use stay within the estate.
Pressure sewer systems, like this one, are already helping to reduce environmental impacts across other communities, including on the Mornington Peninsula.

What is Class A recycled water and how is it used at Aquarevo?
All wastewater from the Aquarevo community will eventually be recycled through an onsite water recycling plant. It will treat waste from all houses in the development and return it as Class A recycled water for use in your garden, toilet and for cold water for your washing machine (if you choose).
Class A recycled water is wastewater treated to Class A standard in keeping with guidelines set by Environment Protection Authority Victoria and endorsed by Department of Health and Human Services.
Recycled water pipes and taps will be coloured purple, as is standard across Australia.
Aquarevo homes will have two water meters: one for drinking water and one for Class A recycled water.

In your Aquarevo home, use recycled water to:
  • Flush toilets
  • Water plants and vegetables in the garden
  • Water lawns
  • Run your washing machine
  • Wash cars (on the lawn only)
  • Clean outside areas, including furniture
  • Fight fires
  • Wash pets

Don’t use recycled water to:
  • Drink
  • Cook with or use in the kitchen
  • Shower or bathe
  • Fill swimming pools or spas
  • Operate evaporative cooling systems
  • Fill children’s water toys

What is a rain-to-hot water system?
There will be two hot water systems for each house in the Aquarevo estate. Heated drinking water for food preparation or other consumption will be supplied to all sinks (kitchen and bars), fridges, dishwasher and basins via a hot water system installed by your builder. You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and operation of this hot water system.
In addition, at each house in the Aquarevo estate, rainwater will be captured from the roof and collected into a 2,400 litre capacity rainwater tank. This rainwater will be heated through a second hot water system and provided for non-drinking purposes and will supply the hot water taps in the:
  • shower/s
  • bath
  • laundry trough, and
  • clothes washing machine.

The rain-to-hot water system feeds rainwater through guards and screens, and undergoes filtering and treatment before it passes into a hot water system and into the home. Drinking water will be automatically supplied to the hot water system as a back-up if there is no rainwater in the rainwater tank. Hot water taps connected to the rain-to-hot water system will be clearly marked.
All rainwater equipment relating to the rain-to-hot water system (including leaf filtering systems and downpipes) and rain to hot water equipment (to the outlet of the rainwater hot water unit) will be supplied and installed by South East Water. This equipment remains the property of South East Water. The gutter guard will be supplied by South East Water and installed by the builder. The homeowner is responsible for maintaining the roof and gutters. As the roof is used as a rainwater catchment there must not be any modifications e.g. for satellite dishes, etc., that could impact on the rainwater catchment and therefore the quality of water.
South East Water will maintain and operate the products and features provided for the rain-to-hot water system for 10 years.
